Channings Hotel, An Ascend Hotel Collection Member – Hotel near airport in Edinburgh

I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were attractively furnished with rich fabrics and antique furniture but were unfortunately adjacent to the lounge areas of another row house. The offer of dinner and breakfast for £1 was a bargain. The service was excellent, with attentive staff welcoming us on arrival. The location was a bit off the beaten track but peaceful with a good view from the front bedroom. The dining experience, although served in the Conservatory with classical music, was less than exciting. Overall, a good stay with some minor drawbacks.

The hotel felt really cold but the lovely views over the gardens and towards the Forth and Fettes College made for a very good night's sleep. The staff were polite and helpful, but there were some small niggles that prevented it from being a 5-star experience.

I have never seen such a beautiful four-poster bed; it's so comfortable you don't ever want to get out of it. The atmosphere in the room was great, and we looked out onto the garden at the rear of the property, making it our amazing oasis of a room.
